Empowering Providers to Use Best Practices for Mental Health Care

How does this ECHO work?

Primary care providers, resident physicians, certified peer support specialists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, emergency room personnel, pharmacists and other professionals are encouraged to join. Participants will join the expert team in case-based learning via videoconferencing. Together, participants will:

  • improve the capacity of care teams in screening, identifying, diagnosing, referring, and medical management of mental disorders
  • Enhance awareness of an ability to access resources available for managing all aspects of mental health disorders
  • Identify strategies to effectively incorporate mental health into routine visits/care within the community
  • Implement strategies for recognizing and managing stigma
  • Navigate factors that contribute to mental health disparities
  • Improve the physical well-being of patients

The Adult Psych ECHO will empower and support health care providers in effectively and confidently applying best practices to the treatment of individuals experiencing mental health issues.

A team of experts in adult psychiatry, psychiatric pharmacology, psychology, community health and peer support will offer online collaborative learning sessions every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Continuing Education (CE) Information

To receive CE credit for the ECHO sessions attended you will receive a survey to complete in May and one at the end of October.

This information, as well as the number of ECHO sessions attended, will be sent to the Continuing Education for Health Professions (CEHP) office at the University of Missouri. Once completed, a transcript of your CE credit may be requested by contacting Adam Tipton (tiptonsa@health.missouri.edu) in the CEHP office.

Successful completion of this activity, which includes participating in the educational offering, participating in the evaluation process, and completing the verification of attendance, enables the learner to satisfy the requirements for continuing education.
