Nursing Home COVID-19 Network

The University of Missouri has developed an ECHO to support providers and administrators at PAC/LTC facilities and organizations. This new PAC/LTC ECHO establishes a virtual learning community to promote delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care that improves patient health outcomes. The ECHO’s collaborative and interactive online learning sessions focus on infection prevention and management, including COVID-19 pandemic response and recovery. Goals and Objectives

  • Promote infection prevention, management and safety measures to protect residents and staff, including education and training on COVID-19 outbreak management, vaccine options, administration, safety and side effects.
  • Address physical and mental health of staff and residents to optimize well-being and outcomes and promote an age-friendly health system.
  • Understand the impact of disparities on health outcomes as related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Implement quality assessment and performance improvement strategies to improve clinical outcomes and resident quality of life.

Topics for Case-Based Learning and Discussion

Sessions may include such topics as:

  • Post-Vaccination Practices: Including Visitation Policies and PPE practices
  • Ongoing COVID-19 Identification and Treatment: Plans for Recognizing Patients with COVID, Post-COVID Syndromes, Testing, Treatment and Cohorting
  • Emotional and Organizational Support for Staff
  • Vaccinations: Vaccine Confidence, Testing, Logistics, Ongoing Compliance and Complications
  • Addressing and Supporting Needs of Residents, Families or Care Partners: Isolation and Family Communication
  • Stopping the Spread (Infection Control): Building Sustainable Infection Control Practices
  • Leadership Communication for COVID-19: Huddles, Rounding, Etc.
  • Leadership Behaviors to Support Teams During COVID-19: Teamwork, Roles and Psychological Safety
